On April 3, 2009, my wife and I backpacked in the Grand Canyon. We took this trip with a class from Yavapai College in Prescott, AZ. As you will see from the pictures, a nasty storm moved in on our way down. We descended the South Rim via the South Kaibab trail, to Bright Angel Campground. We had dinner that night at Phantom Ranch, a wonderful family style beef stew, salad, and desert. The next morning we began our ascent up Bright Angel trail, through the Devil’s Corkscrew, up to Indian Gardens campground. That afternoon, we took side hikes to some Indian ruins in the canyon. Just before sunset, we headed out to Plateau Point for a last look at the Colorado River. Sunday morning, we continued up the Bright Angel trail to Grand Canyon Village, then headed back home. I recommend you “View with PicLens”.
