Magnificent Monument Valley
Out of respect for the wishes of the Navajo Nation, I will not post any pictures of Monument Valley for commercial purposes. A google search will get you there. This takes nothing away from the true magnificence of this place. In fact, Monument Valley is one of the most photographed places on the planet. Majestic sandstone eronsional features tower from 400 to 1,000 feet above the desert floor. See the famous Mitten Buttes and Merrick Butte. This spectacular national treasure is a “must see” when visiting northern Arizona.
Our tour takes us up the beautiful Oak Creek Canyon, through the eastern edge of the San Fransisco Volcanic Field, and onto the Navajo Nation Reservation. We’ll stop and see some dinosaur tracks and then move through the Painted Desert. After lunch at Goulding’s Lodge, we will enter the park. Bring your camera as this is a wondrous place to photograph. On our return, we will stop at the historic Cameron Trading Post for authentic Navajo trinkets and treasures.
